Uncovering the Connection: Vaginal Microbiome and Fertility Health

Aktualisiert: 5. Juni

Accompany us embarking the microbiome & fertility journey

Throughout my (unsuccessful) IVF process, I confronted my fertility doctor with uncomfortable sensations and had to almost beg her to do an examination. "No signs of inflammation, your uterus looks fine!" I looked at her dissatisfied with her answer, as all my perfect-looking 5-day embryos did not implant.

"Well, the only thing you seem not to have enough of is Lactobacilli." Should I do something about it? She shrugged. "If it makes you feel better, I can prescribe you something."

Determined to take any step that might help, I went to the pharmacy and bought a one-week prescription, paying 25 euros. As I started the treatment, my curiosity took over. I delved into research, seeking to understand more about this elusive Lactobacilli.

Something Seems Wrong Here

I discovered that an unbalanced microbiome is indeed unfavorable for conception. Women with a predominance of certain Lactobacillus species are more likely to have successful pregnancies. Yet, the suppository my doctor prescribed contained a type of Lactobacillus commonly found in the gut, not the vagina. This didn't sit right with me. If our vaginal microbiome was so crucial for fertility, why were we treating it with something designed for an entirely different environment?

"The Gap in Knowledge and Care Became Apparent"

The more I read, the more I realized how crucial it was for women to have control over their vaginal health, especially on their fertility journey. The gap in knowledge and care became glaringly apparent. Women deserved better solutions, tailored specifically to their unique needs. It wasn’t just about following a prescription; it was about understanding and nurturing our bodies in a more informed and effective way.

This realization was the spark that ignited my passion for starting a company focused on the vaginal microbiome for fertility. I wanted to create products that were not only scientifically sound but also accessible and empowering for women. It was time to shift the narrative from passive acceptance of inadequate care to proactive management of our reproductive health.

This was Just the Start of the Mirobiome & Fertility Journey

My journey from a frustrated IVF patient to an entrepreneur was driven by a deep-seated need for better answers and solutions. I envisioned a future where women could confidently navigate their fertility challenges with the right tools and knowledge. This was the beginning of my mission to revolutionize vaginal health and fertility care, one scientifically backed product at a time.
